WARRIOR – The Archetype of Action

The archetype of The Warrior also has a practical title which is more descriptive of the role this archetype fulfils as an energy within our psychology. According to Rod Boothroyd in Warrior, Magician, Lover, King – Updated for the 21st Century The Warrior archetype can just as accurately be called ‘The Action Taker’. While this title may be less evocative in terms of its ability to create a potentially inspiring image within our minds, this title enables us to have a ‘working definition’ so that we can understand practically what the function of this part of ourselves is.

The Warrior (Action Taker) is representative of our ‘Will’ and our capacity to take action to enact our Will in our lives. The Idea of a Man™ is not interested in teaching men to assert their Will to override or manipulate the Will of others. If Magic is divided into two different paths, The-Left-Handed-Path and The-Right-Handed Path, The-Left-Handed-Path could be described as learning to manipulate and control others. Whereas The-Right-Handed-Path is all about learning to Manipulate and Control yourself.

The Idea of a Man™ promotes exclusively Ideas that enable us to have greater degrees of self control. By increasing our capacity to realise our Sovereignty and helping us evolve into the Idea of a Man™ that we can envision for ourselves, The Idea of a Man’s™ message is that aligning ourselves to our truth, is to align ourselves with The Universe. When you align yourself with The Universe the potent energies within The Universe become available to you. And there is no need to seek to undermine the sovereignty of anyone else. In fact when you honor and invest in sovereignty in your own life the opposite happens, a deep respect for the sovereign rights of others to make their own decisions and think their own thoughts and live their own lives becomes an intrinsic value of the truly sovereign male.

Therefore, it is important that the Action Taker within ourselves is under the authority and leadership of his internal King. Then the actions we take align with our sovereign objectives. As Sovereigns once we’ve done the work to know who we are and where we fit. It is time to build a life for us that has meaning to us. To do this The King within us will need to engage assistance from The Magician archetype the brains of the operation. The internal Magician literally ‘our mind’ will provide strategy and insight and help lay down the plans for us, and then the King once he’s signed off on the plans, will need to enrol the talents of the internal Warrior the muscle of the operation to implement the vision and take action to straighten things out, clear the ground and build the life we are seeking to realise in the 3rd dimension.

Now on a practical level, this may play out in our lives from a variety of perspectives. It may be reflected in physical projects which need to happen, like the renovation of a property, or the building of a career or business, brand or enterprise. Or we may need to engage the services of our Warrior to be brave enough to go into battle and confront the unconfronted within our lives.

You’ll be surprised at how many of us as men are severely conflict averse, and there can be a number of reasons for this. Sometimes it is because we have not learnt balanced healthy assertiveness, or we’ve seen examples and been on the receiving end of examples of men whose will seeks to trump the will of all others. Therefore, whether through assertion or brute force they seem to always get what they want, not concerned about the carnage that they leave as a result. In response many of us want nothing to do with being this kind of man and understandably so. However, becoming frozen into inaction in response to bad examples has its own drawbacks.

Therefore, whether through assertion or brute force they seem to always get what they want, not concerned about the carnage that they leave as a result. In response many of us want nothing to do with being this kind of man and understandably so. However, becoming frozen into inaction in response to bad examples has its own drawbacks.

A major drawback we can identify from the other side of the pole of The Shadow Warrior is the Passive Aggressor. So, the two poles of the Shadow Warrior are the Rageful Aggressor and the Passive Aggressor. Let’s remember, we don’t slide from one side of these poles to the other in a bid to find the middle ground. Every stage along these poles is dysfunctional. The remedy is transcendence, we must rise above the ‘either’, ‘or’ dichotomy. Remember the shadow government playbook internally as well as externally is always ‘divide and conquer’ (as above, so below), therefore, many things in life are set in dualistic poles, they always want us to pick a side.

However, the transcendent way provides a birds eye view from which we can pick the meat of what makes sense from all the options on the table and spit the bones and look further afield to ascertain what the set of choices being presented add up to a little further down the road.

The transcendent birds eye view also enables us to look behind and ask valuable questions about what lessons can be learnt from the historical record that I should be taking into consideration as I do my due diligence to ensure I get to my desired destination in line with my true north as I proceed on my hero’s journey of discovering My Idea of a Man™.

Remember as we pursue our Idea of a Manâ„¢ this is our idea – for ourselves, the conclusions that we have arrived at, not predicated on the external pressures which seek to dictate our path and mitigate against our capacity to choose, because they don’t respect The Divinity in the individual.

And again this is why we need a strong internal Warrior, because The Warrior within is the internal energy we will need to access to defend our Sovereign Divine Rights as Sovereign Divine Beings with a right to exist without apology or justification, and who don’t need the infantilisation of middle men to think, or to access a Practical Spirituality that can enhance our day-to-day lives and our mental emotional wellbeing.

So, the response of passive aggression also bespeaks of our sense of powerlessness. When in actual fact, we are not powerless. In fact as men, as people, as adults we need to acknowledge and recognise from time to time just how powerful we are. Particularly when it comes to the arena of our own lives.

So, often the temptation to remain stuck keeps us from taking meaningful action for years, and as a result issues get swept under the carpet, certain conversations never happen, perhaps for fear of another’s reactions. When we choose again and again not to stand up for ourselves the internal frustration builds, and this can become the catalyst which can result in us swinging from the pole of the passive into the rageful aggressor, leaving ourselves and others wondering where on earth did that come from.

These imbalanced reactions are often the result of long unfaced frustrations which due to our lack of courage we have neglected to address. And let’s face it fear is real, the need to be courageous is just that, if it wasn’t a thing we would not be talking about it. But the truth be told, mustering the courage to step up to what life is asking of us, and speaking our truth, and asking for what we want, is going to be necessary in order to heal and create a life you can truly own and call your own.

The recognition of your personal power, your power to change and lead your life need not infringe adversely upon the life of anyone else. Heck, let’s suppose you, being more honest about yourself and your truth, likes, dislikes, visions, goals and aspirations, was to push others out of your life. You may be freeing them up to live the life they want to live. And certainly you will be removing the weights which hamper your own progress, enabling you to be an example of what a meaningfully lived life looks like.

The world around us could use more local examples of this, our sons and daughters need it from us, our partners, lovers and friends need to see it. Our co-workers, employees and employers benefit when we show up like this and ultimately allow ourselves the permission to strap on our armour and face life in order to create life and march unencumbered to the point ‘B’ of our desired destiny.

Therefore, engaging the energy of your internal Warrior, gives you the power to get things done in your world. And by living your life with integrity, (in line with your own truth), you set an example for others to do the same, and little by little we begin to change the world, one decision at a time.
