Funding this enterprise. If you’re reading these pages in the logical progression in which they are written, you’ll know we just spoke about business, being about your business, minding your own business. And not necessarily being a businessman, because The Idea of a Man™ is all about you being whatever kind of ‘man’ you want to be. However, being a man who is able to fund the enterprise which is your life, the life you have chosen and which you are intentionally leading with sovereignty and clarity is a life which is likely to require financial literacy in order to fuel the many moving parts to your adventure.
Therefore, learning more about finances and developing your financial acumen, overcoming any hang ups or shadow financial perspectives which may prevent the flow of sufficient even abundant finances in your life is an important practice as we go from Survival to Thrival.
As discussed, Thrival is when you ‘use your mind’ as opposed to your ‘mind playing tricks on you’. It is when the mature, sovereign ‘you’ interrupts the patterns which are set up to enable you to survive the young, vulnerable stages of infancy, childhood and adolescence and replaces those patterns with an intentional programme. A programme we could call – ‘your idea of a man’.
The Idea of a Man™, that your soul uniquely wishes to live out through you. A man like you – the man you are! Not comparing yourself against anyone else but assessing your own potential and ascertaining to what extent you can maximise your unique potential, and doing what it takes to fulfil the dreams that Your Soul wishes to live out through you.
These longings of Our Souls are holistic, they do not grate against our beings, but often we live lives which grate against Our Souls. The Idea of a Man™ believes that Your Soul has a unique purpose and wishes to express Herself through you. I understand that a deeper knowledge of self as a man is when we gain a deeper awareness and sensitivity to the divine spark which we have the privilege to carry within our existence and which unfolds further into your consciousness the more we allow our minds to open to the supra consciousness within.
Just following this spark will set us on an adventure, life then is no longer mundane, life has a reason behind it. Everyone of our lives carries potentialities and possibilities which are likely being intimated to us from within our subconscious. These potentialities and possibilities reveal themselves in various ways and most of the time in most people’s lives, however, they are being ignored or side-lined often due to the constraints of our day to day need for survival.
Well this is where perhaps learning about finances and how to develop a plan to run alongside our endeavours to grow more fully into our Idea of a Man begins to make sense. Funding our enterprise does not have to be boring, in fact there are creative ways to do these things and ways in which this can become fun despite the images your mind may conjure up of accountants and number crunching and auditing etc.
This survival instinct within us is strong. And good, it has kept us alive till now to read these words. However, we know we are not here merely to survive, something within us senses this. Longs for more, but often does not dare to countenance the possibility because, what if we fall flat on our faces. What if we go off in the direction of our dreams and everything falls apart, and we lose our income and the security of our comfort zone and – horror of horrors, don’t ‘survive’. You see, sometimes the very pursuit of our dreams itself is counter to our survival instinct, no wonder so many dreams never get pursued.
Well this is where perhaps learning about finances and how to develop a plan to run alongside our endeavours to grow more fully into our Idea of a Man™ begins to make sense. Then you can tell the overly cautious fearful aspect of your mind to relax. Here at The Idea of a Man™ we are going to be responsible adults about this. Heck, we’re going to endeavour to be Men – whatever that means to us individually, no doubt. But ‘Men’ nevertheless.
Funding our enterprise does not have to be boring, in fact there are creative ways to do these things and ways in which this can become fun despite the images your mind may conjure up of accountants number crunching and carrying out audits etc.
Again, nothing against accountants, that may be your Idea of a Man™, and if so go ahead and embody that, no shade or judgement here. In fact, we tip our hat off to you, those of us who cannot get our head around the stuff you do.
The truth is to eliminate dysfunction, we all need to embrace a little more structure and organisation if we intend to fulfil our dreams and realise our potential. Winging it and flying by the seat of our pants, is boy stuff, and while we may wish to retain our youthful spirit and remain as agile, humorous and energetic as possible, as long as possible, the ‘either’, ‘or’ perspective we may have mentally adopted between either remaining immature or getting our ducks in a row and our shit together are going to need to be re-evaluated against a real world point of view so that we can implement the lifestyle changes necessary to be serious about how we build our enterprise and cultivate prosperity and develop the skills of sound money management if were going to get from A to B.
So we all have learning curves and growth areas which we need to surmount as we go on this adventure. And understanding that this adventure is not only important but key to our fulfillment. Key to us being able to reflect back in later life on our time here with a sense of gratitude as we consider the lives we’ve lived because we know we did what it took to practically live our lives and didn’t allow unexamined paradigms to rob us of what is for all intents and purposes our birth right. We must from time to time consider that ‘later life’ is bearing down on all of us ever so quickly and if we don’t take stock and ensure that the tomorrow we are building reflects the values and aspirations which resonate with the deeper inner working of our beings, one day we may have to live with unnecessary regret. So this stuff is important.
Therefore, to approach this practically; ‘We need to take care of business’. So in that vain; The idea of a Man™ is installing the key practice of developing financial literacy by creating this 5th Chamber dedicated to the area of Finance so as to have an online space on The Idea of a Man™ website where as men we can find tools and resources, courses, links and books to help us practically develop whatever kind of financial growth resonates with the journey we are on and the vision we are individually trying to realise.
So, we will endeavour to create quality content with meaningful, actionable tools to assist you in developing your financial acumen in order to realise your Idea of a Man™ without having to shave off any edges or skimp on any trimmings. The Idea of a Man™ in being a supportive community for us all to grow into our unique Idea of a Man™ sees the financial step as intrinsic to this process so let’s learn together and avoid pitfalls, explore ideas and establish habitual behaviours which aid our forward motion and progress us to the destination we conclude for ourselves as our true north
