Chamber of Sovereign Mastery #3 HOW DO I THRIVE?

So, chamber number 3, having looked at chamber 1; who we are, and chamber 2; where we fit, is to now take a look at how ‘we’ as ‘us’ can thrive. The title of this chamber is: How Do I Thrive?, and we are asking this question because if our life has been lived without a conscious awareness of our truth and without the intentionality of living purposefully in accordance with our truth a lot of our time, energy and money will have been spent in what is essentially ‘Survival Mode living’.

Therefore, having excavated our true selves by asking and answering the questions ‘Who Am I?’ and ‘Where Do I Fit?’, the opportunity is now presented to us to move from Survival Mode into Thrival Mode.

The Magician Archetype within us is a ‘part’ of our psychological make up and is predominantly responsible for our survival until we come to a place of consciousness mature enough for us to move into a more abundant incarnation of reality. The Idea of a Man™ deals significantly with The Four Male Archetypes which come from Jungian Psychology and are the title of the men’s work book by Robert Moore and Douglas Gillette as well as a more recent book by Rod Boothroyd who has created a version updated for the 21st century.

I like to think of The Magician Archetype essentially as our ‘mind’. As you’ll be aware, our mind is composed of our conscious and subconscious mind. Additionally we know a lot of processes that sustain our lives occur at a subconscious level. Processes as intrinsic and instinctual as our heart beating or our lungs breathing. Additionally, and perhaps less considered is the fact that our mode and way of being in the world is as a result of patterns our mind has created in order to survive day to day life. However, because these patterns are ‘subconscious’ and not something we are constantly aware of, these patterns if not interrupted may continue to present behaviours and ways of showing up in the world which require updating and reevaluating if we want to live intentional lives and to lead our lives and derive from our lives the fulfilment of our purpose and potential. Likewise if we’ll interrupt our preprogrammed patterns we can re-consider, re-think and amend how we show up and enhance our lives from Survival Mode to what for the purpose of our discourse we’ll call ‘Thrival Mode’!

So, by causing your Magician – ‘your mind’ – under the leadership of your ‘King’ to come up with a SYSTEM, you can literally save yourself, some time, energy and money. And the time, energy and money which you save by not leaking these precious components in ‘survival patterns’ but thorough living with intention will enable you to spend your time, energy and money in a systematic manner which will cause transformation in the way life happens for you

To enable this to transpire within our lived experience though, we must go to a place of – ‘using our minds’.

The ‘we’ that is making utility of the tool which is our mind is the Sovereign Archetype, the King within, representative of your sovereignty – our sovereign right to exist without apology or justification. Our internal King needs to cultivate a relationship with his resident Magician and they need to form an alliance and conclude how they want us to show up in the world. They need to decide on a system to enable us to live a life reflective of your Newly Discovered Truth, and aligned with our values, in accordance with our gifts, and what it is that we as a unique being are here to contribute to our world.

And, therefore, the patterns of how we have spent our time, energy and money need to be adjusted to our new system. To help us remember this let me introduce you to an acronym my wife once coined using the word – SYSTEM. My wife is an excellent business coach, web designer and entrepreneur, in fact she is the designer of The Idea of a Manâ„¢ website. And one day she said to me that the word SYSTEM stands for Save, Yourself, Some, Time, Energy and Money. And I’ve been using this acronym ever since.

So, by causing your Magician – ‘your mind’ – under the leadership of your ‘King’ to come up with a SYSTEM, you can literally save yourself, some time, energy and money. And the time, energy and money which you save by not leaking these precious components in ‘survival patterns’ but thorough living with intention will enable you to spend your time, energy and money in a systematic manner which will cause transformation in the way life happens for you.

Survival patterns are created in our subconscious minds and are formed as the frame work from which our personalities are formed in response to our most early experiences when as vulnerable babies and young children in an unfamiliar environment – (having emerged out of the paradise of our mothers womb), and then through the discipline and instruction of our elders, – parents, teachers and siblings, and the environment around us forming our reality, our mind adapts in order to navigate what we perceive to be reality whether our perceptions are accurate or not.

Therefore, patterns get established which as we get older and understand the world more we have the ability to adjust. However, if we don’t make the unconscious conscious and interrupt the patterns it is highly possible that behaviours, traits, habits and ways of expressing ourselves occur for the most part automatically, having a huge impact upon our lives and in many ways setting the limitations and parameters of what’s possible for us. Until we become sufficiently frustrated by ourselves and want to change – and at this point we may begin to address the matter of cause and effect.

Cause and effect is memorably spoken of by Charles F. Hanell in his book, The Master Key System where he states; ‘men tend to deal with effects, but if we want things to change we need to address the cause’. Therefore, if we find that our lives seem to be a ‘hanging on for dear life’ saga, where we ‘wing it’ and seem to be getting by, by the seat of our pants – as it were. Barely scraping through to pay our bills, – holding on for all we’ve got to our relationships, and doing everything in our power to keep and maintain our jobs and a roof over our head, it may be time to acknowledge that we are living in Survival Mode – also it’s time to acknowledge the potentiality that this does not have to be the ceiling of what is possible for us.

Again, if we find ourselves constantly expressing destructive habits which don’t reflect our values, that leave us with guilt, anxiety, insecurity and shame, we may well be living with patterns which need to be interrupted in order to make way for new SYSTEM’s to be implemented which can enable us to reprogramme our consciousness to be more aware of our patterns and their roots. More aware of the causes so that we can change our effects.

The cause, we’ll find, is usually a wound. A message we picked up in childhood which stated that in order for us to survive – in order for us to navigate our environment, we would need to respond to life in a particular way. Therefore, as a result we began to put our ‘true-selves’ into shadow, in order to morph ourselves into what we felt was required from us via the external stimuli in our environment in order to be accepted by the people who to our younger and more vulnerable selves, seemed to hold our existence in the balance.

In this period of hyper dependency we learnt to be dependent on others. I guess, however, in many ways the act of ‘growing up’ is learning to be less and less dependent upon others, and more and more aware of our own personal power and internal resourcefulness. More capable of accessing the internal resources within us to overcome the obstacles and navigate the terrain presented to us as we traverse over our life’s path.

The Idea of a Manâ„¢ is all about us becoming ‘Grown ass men’ – code for; ‘integrated men’. Men whose lives are reflective of our conscious choices. Aligned with our values and lived intentionally from a core awareness of how we want to show up and the outcome we envision for ourselves. This is Thrival Mode living and is a result of claiming back time, energy and money. And this comes about when we learn to use our minds as opposed to our mind seeming to be playing tricks on us.

When we unpack the potentialities in the software of our minds installed in the hardware of our brains, and stand in our rightful Sovereignty and lead our lives with intentionality by marshalling our internal resources we get to go from the dysfunction of surviving and scraping out an existence to thriving and blossoming into the fullness of what’s possible for us.
