19 Nov Chamber of Sovereign Mastery #10 SPIRIT
As much as it’s true, ‘we’re not physical beings having a spiritual experience, but spiritual beings having a physical experience’. The same can be said the other way around. ‘We are not only Spiritual beings having a physical experience, we are also Physical beings having a spiritual experience’. Why would I say this? Because going back to asking and answering the question, ‘Who am I?’ One of the conclusions you may deduce is that there are ‘parts’ which make up who we are. And one of the breakdowns of ‘parts’ which make up us which we may wish to consider is Spirit, Soul and Body.Â
It is my observation that within these parts of my lived experience, The Spirit, The Soul and The Body – each has its own agenda. And by tuning my consciousness to the agenda of each component individually I can gain valuable insights that enable me to honour the individual energy which the distinct part is contributing to my life as my life unfolds. And through this awareness and by paying closer attention to the divergent agendas playing out within my existence my life can be enriched and my Idea of a Manâ„¢ becomes further integrated.Â
Therefore, on that note let me state that as always here at The Idea of a Manâ„¢ we have no desire to influence you in terms of which spirituality you ‘ought’ to subscribe to! While I may relay my lived experience and the insights and conclusions I have arrived at so far; I recognise that the deepest ‘truths’ I have come across came by way of revelation. And what I mean by this is that, – I didn’t arrive at my conclusions because of someone’s evangelistic endeavour to convert me to their way of thinking, but in my process of seeking deeply for answers to the questions life was presenting me over years of trial and error I came to places of enlightenment and have had realisations which have illuminated my path a little more.
The other thing you may wish to bear in mind in respect of anything you hear me say is a statement which has proven true repeatedly within my lived experience, and that is; ‘When you think you know the answer, life changes the question’. Therefore, as far as I am concerned I have no right to seek to convince someone of a point of view or perspective, which for all intents and purposes could be subject to change.
And let me be clear, this is not because I am wishy-washy in my spiritual perspective, but I adopt the posture of student, and I value immensely an open mind, and I recognise how much I don’t know, and how much of what I think I know, has not necessarily been translated into habitual behaviours, lived experiences or areas of my life that I could consider yet to have mastered. Some conclusions I have arrived at are simply philosophical points of view, that from my current position in life make sense to me at the moment, others have more weight and heft behind them, and others are simply the result of my conditioning, upbringing, lack of understanding, or common sense.
Additionally, I think from a values point of view, I should caveat – that, when it comes to Spirituality I am only interested in talking, philosophising or pontificating about what I would call ‘Practical Spirituality’. And the reason for this is that so much of what passes for Spirituality and so many of the ‘systems’ which humanity subscribe to for some kind of spiritual upliftment has no practical application whatsoever, and often the only reason we subscribe to some of these modalities is because we either feel compelled to subscribe due to cultural, perhaps familial obligations, or because we have not taken the time to think and consider enough the tenets of what it is we are subscribing to, or as yet the ‘agenda’ of Spirit has perhaps been put on the back burner of our consciousness as the agenda of the ‘Body’ – of survival, has taken precedence over more existential matters.Â
However, The Idea of a Manâ„¢ is all about integration. Therefore, I feel it is important to address this area, even if it is not where you currently locate yourself on the path. It may be something which you eventually encounter. The other factor is that intentionality is very much a value which The Idea of a Manâ„¢ wishes to impress upon us as men to learn to live with intentionality when it comes to the area of Spirituality as opposed to simply going with the flow perhaps of systems which are past their sell by date in our lives. Of course this may require critical overhauling as you discover deeper your Idea of a Manâ„¢.Â
Just as in other areas of your life you may need to reevaluate the value in worshiping things outside yourself or giving money, time and energy to causes which give little or nothing in return. Therefore, as you do the work to ascertain what your values are and what your Idea of a Manâ„¢ is and to what ideological perspectives that Man subscribes and how those ideas and perspectives enhance His life and enable him to realise his purpose and potential and exude a generativity which makes him a valuable person to encounter or interact with, likewise at The Idea of a Manâ„¢ we’ll explore how this also has relevance in the area of Spirituality and how we can enhance our lives through beneficial Spiritual practices which sharpen our edge, centre our connection to the universe and enlarge our capacity to meet life where it is and deal with the manusia life so often presents us.Â
So, let’s explore the ‘agenda’s’ briefly so that we can have a ‘practical’ foundation for what will follow. We are all conscious of ‘The Agenda of the Body’, but perhaps we have never thought to coin it that way, and also the agenda of the body as opposed to what? Well for this conversation, I’m referring to the agenda of the body, as it stands in contrast to; ‘The agenda of the Soul, and ‘The agenda of Spirit’. What do I mean?Â
Your body is a body in a long, dare I say; ‘long’ line of bodies which have been emanating from wombs all the way back to the original womb which released your most ancient ancestor through their portal into this physical dimension. When we use the phrase family tree, we recognise that our bodies are a part of a lineage which stretches back and contains the DNA inheritance of myriads of previous generations. Although we don’t see the physical connection from our body to our mothers once the umbilical cord is cut like bluetooth or wifi, that connection continues unbroken via cords which transcend our consciousness until, like we just did, we bring those connections into our conscious awareness through acknowledgement.
The Idea of a Manâ„¢ is our unique ‘Idea’. Our Idea of the most genuine reflection of our truth, the greatest expression of who we know ourselves to be. And the life we live as a result of coming to conclusions about what our Idea is, is a life aligned with the values which come from the centre of us internally as opposed to externally imposed value systems, man made ideologies and systems of control which seek to infantilise and create barriers between us and our ability to access a direct connection with the Divinity which exists within all of us.Â
This is just one example of why spirituality is important and practical because the cords that we just spoke about are part of the bridge between physical lived experience and spiritual reality, but we are getting ahead of ourselves.Â
Scientifically, biologists tell us that our bodies have a survival instinct and that there are things hard wired into our bodies to enable them to survive which in and of themselves are quite incredible. When we observe nature in the wild, or nature as it makes itself real in our day to day lives; from say a cut healing, to our offspring growing up around us, or the miracle of a newborn being released into this dimension, or the daily process of digestion and elimination – things we often take for granted, we recognise that our bodies have an agenda. And if considered at face value we can observe that our bodies primary agenda is survival, comfort and security.Â
However, there is a consciousness within us which transcends this agenda. In fact it can cause us to sacrifice moments of comfort and risk security, heck it may even cause us to put our very survival on the line. This consciousness is the agenda of our Soul’s.Â
Let’s for a moment consider our ‘mind’. Our Mind which the portal of our brains connects with, like a computer connects to the internet except we know the internet is not the computer anymore than your mind is your brain. Likewise we must differentiate between your heart which pumps the blood for example and the heart with which you fall in love or the heart in the left of your rib cage or the heart in the centre of your chest that we see as the ‘Heart chakra’ if you have ever come across an image of the chakras going through the centre of a meditators spinal column.Â
All these energy centres essentially transcend the physical dimension and represent a consciousness which we are more or less aware of and which have agendas concerning the course of our life’s journey which as ‘men’ on our journeys it will do us well to honour.Â
Indeed, to ascertain the agenda of Our Soul is not as intuitive to most of us as the imperatives which our body brings to our attention in day-to-day life. Our need to use the bathroom, to sleep, to eat, to connect with others and on and on are quite instinctual.
Therefore, if we are to pay attention to the Agenda of Soul and bring our intention to this area, it helps when we are in touch with higher agenda’s which may help us decide it this food our body wants to eat, aligns with our purpose and mission if our Idea of a Man will need us to implement a diet that will give us the energy we need and the physique we want as we traverse this journey intentionally.
Likewise paying more attention to the Agenda of the Soul will help us ascertain if or not a particular person is going to be a suitable companion for the journey our Soul is making on her way through this dimension via the vehicle of our bodies, or if by introducing this or these companions into the intimate sacred space of our hearts and beds, our Soul’s agenda and journey could potentially be compromised.
However, let me halt for a moment because this conversation is not about the Agenda of the Soul. That is the next Chamber. Before we get deeper into that I want to introduce us to a perspective on The Agenda of Spirit in this article. But I’ve brought us here via this route, so as to enable us to grasp what is at stake.Â
And to make it clear that our Soul exists beyond the physical dimension, in what we could term ‘The Spiritual Dimension’. In the Spiritual Dimension we also encounter The Spirit – The Source of Our Souls. Spirit in the context in which I am describing HER is The Mother of all that is, the very fibre of existence itself, the fundamental life principle and The Source of all benevolence in the universe. Some have called HER the Universal Mind. Some make statements like, ‘the universe is on my side’. And others for melania have sought to create systems, doctrines and dogmas to encapsulate HER and act as a sort of bridge between The Divine and the people. If as at times many of us do, we find ourselves utilising a system, subscribing to a doctrine or submitting to a particular dogmatic way of interacting with The Divine, we may wish to explore as we pursue a greater purchase on our Idea of a Manâ„¢ whether or not our fundamental truth is reflected in that to which we subscribe, and whether or not the systems we find ourselves engaged in resonates with the frequency which we find our awakened selves vibrating on and if ultimately the dogmas which seek to steer our path align with the destination which we are pursuing as we pursue our Idea of a Manâ„¢.Â
The Idea of a Manâ„¢ is our unique ‘Idea’. Our Idea of the most genuine reflection of our truth, the greatest expression of who we know ourselves to be. And the life we live as a result of coming to conclusions about what our Idea is, is a life aligned with the values which come from the centre of us internally as opposed to externally imposed value systems, man made ideologies and systems of control which seek to infantalise and create barriers between us and our ability to access a direct connection with the Divinity which exists within all of us.Â
If you have a Soul, Source has literally deposited themselves into you to express Herself through you – As you. Therefore, you have no greater mandate as a man than to simply Be Yourself!
And if you wish to express a deeper level of Spirituality, through Spiritual practices like meditation and journal writing, you can literally attune your inner-ear to the voice and vibrations of your Soul and Source within you and as you cultivate your relationship with yourself be assured the expression of you which will manifest will be the expression of your Highest-Self and as a result of you taking responsibility for your own maturity and Spiritual growth, you will not need a middleman or guru to practice priest craft on your behalf.Â
